Effective Gardening Techniques for Small Spaces

Gardening in limited spaces can be quite a challenge, especially in an urban setting like Toronto. I’m looking to make the most of my small balcony while still enjoying the process of gardening. With so many options, from vertical gardens to container planting, it’s hard to decide what truly works best.

Lately, I’ve been exploring vertical planters and hanging pots as potential solutions to save space while growing herbs and flowers. I’d love to hear from anyone who has tried these methods—what were your experiences? Did certain plants perform better in those setups?

What gardening techniques have you found to work well in small spaces? Any specific plants you’d recommend? I’m excited to learn from your insights!

I’ve been using window boxes and they’re great for small spaces! Herbs like basil and cilantro do super well in them, plus they’re easy to maintain. I also tried some strawberries in hanging pots, which worked better than I expected. Definitely worth a shot!

I’ve had some luck with vertical planters too, especially with herbs like basil and mint. They seem to thrive in those setups! Have you thought about using a trellis for climbing plants? It’s a cool way to add more variety without taking up much space.
