Is Gardening Really as Therapeutic as It's Claimed to Be?

After spending decades focused on my career, I’ve recently returned to gardening—something I used to love in my younger years. There’s something truly joyful about nurturing plants and watching them thrive. I’ve heard that gardening can provide mental health benefits too, and it often feels like a form of meditation for me. I’m curious to know if others feel the same way.

I’ve noticed that taking care of my plants helps me disconnect from everyday stresses and reconnect with nature. However, it can be a lot of work, especially with the heat here in Orlando. For those of you who have embraced gardening, do you think the therapeutic benefits make it worth the effort? How has gardening impacted your daily life or overall mood? I’d really love to hear your thoughts!

Gardening has been my escape too! I started a veggie garden last year and it really helped me unwind after a long day. The satisfaction of growing your own food is awesome, even with the heat. Plus, I’ve found that the learning curve keeps it exciting and keeps my mind off stress. Definitely worth the effort!
