Finding time for enjoyable activities is important in retirement, and I’ve been hearing mixed opinions about book clubs. Some people absolutely love the friendships they build and the engaging discussions that come from reading together, while others struggle with keeping up with the reading lists. Living in Tampa, I notice there are plenty of clubs to choose from, and I’m interested in hearing about different experiences.

For those who have participated in a book club, what were the group dynamics like? Did you enjoy the book selections, or did they feel more like a task? I’m curious to know if the social interaction makes joining a club more rewarding than just reading alone at home. What have your experiences been like?

I joined a book club last year and it’s been a blast! The discussions are way more fun than reading solo and I’ve discovered some great books I wouldn’t have picked myself. Just be ready to sometimes tackle books you’re not into; it’s part of the experience!
