Is slow travel the best way to enjoy retirement?

After years of working, the idea of taking trips can be both exciting and a bit overwhelming. More retirees are now turning to slow travel as a way to fully enjoy their journeys, but is it the best choice? By spending more time in fewer places, it seems like there’s a great chance to connect more deeply with different cultures and communities.

I’ve noticed that friends who rush through multiple destinations often end up feeling exhausted rather than fulfilled. In contrast, I’ve found joy in taking the time to explore just a couple of places each year. This slower pace has given me space for relaxation and reflection, which feels essential after such a hectic working life. I’m curious to know what others think about this approach.

Have any of you embraced slow travel in your retirement? What benefits or challenges have you faced? Do you believe it enhances your travel experience?
