Should You Get Term Life Insurance in Retirement?

As we approach retirement, many of us think about achieving financial independence. A friend recently mentioned considering term life insurance as a safety net, which got me thinking about whether it’s a good idea for those of us already retired.

On one hand, term life insurance offers peace of mind by protecting our loved ones in case something unexpected happens. On the other hand, is it financially justified? Many of us have already established our retirement budgets, so can we really afford this extra expense?

I’d love to hear from others in the community. Have any of you opted for term life insurance after retiring? How has it changed your financial planning? Your insights would be really helpful!

I’ve wondered about this too! A couple of my friends who retired did get term life insurance just to be safe, especially with kids and grandkids to think about. But yeah, I’m curious—what kind of costs were they dealing with, and did it really make a difference in their budgeting?

I looked into term life insurance when I retired and ended up passing on it. I figured my kids are grown and I have enough savings to cover things, but I can see the appeal for others. It might be worth a chat with a financial advisor if you’re on the fence!
