Tips for Choosing the Right Painting Supplies

Choosing the right painting supplies can be a bit daunting, especially if you’re new to this hobby in retirement like I am. There are so many options available, from various brush types to countless paint brands. I want to make sure I invest in good-quality items without overspending. I recently bought some acrylic paints, but I’m now curious if oils or watercolors might be better for what I want to create.

I’ve heard that the brand can really impact the outcome of your work, but as a beginner, I’m unsure how much I should invest. Has anyone found a particular brand they love? Or do you have a preferred type of paint that works well for you? What do you look for when selecting supplies as you get started?

I just started painting too, and I found that student-grade acrylics are a great way to go for beginners. They’re pretty affordable and still give good results. If you’re curious about oils, maybe get a small starter set to try them out without breaking the bank. Brands like Liquitex or Winsor & Newton have pretty decent options!
